2 months. On one hand I'd say nothing has happened in the past 2 months, but when I really think about it, quite a bit has happened. With the kids being out of school for the summer, makes everyday seem like the one before. I have no concept of weekends. No getting ready for school monday-friday, and since hubs works weekends, that makes weekends feel like any other day. Sometimes I even forget we're in July! The summer has really flown by. My kids will be back in school in 3 weeks, which is so ridiculous. Yes, let's send children to school in August in the south. Let's put them on a school bus in 100 degree plus 100% humidity twice a day. Good grief.

We celebrated daughter #2's birthday yesterday. Her real birthday is tomorrow (18th). She will be 15. My lord, 15. So hard to believe that cute tiny 2 year old girl is now a young lady.

I have been sewing quite a bit lately, which is good. I have tons of ideas. Too many! I tend to want to start every idea that enters my head, then I have 50 unfinished projects laying around...and I'd say 75% of them will be there for years, or forever :/

I finally bouht a new lens for my nikon. My son "allegedly" dropped my camera on christmas eve. He still swears he didn't, but I caught him picking it up off the floor @@. Anyways, I got a new lens, a diferent one, and I'm still trying to figure it out. Guess if I actually read instructions and googled it I might do better ;P

After painting my kitchen cabinets (black) and my walls (white), I decided I wanted to move my impressionist paintings of Paris (ooh la la) into the kitchen. But unfortunately, the ugly gold frames have kept them hidden in my bedroom. So, instead of spending lots of $$ buying new ones, I decided to paint them, with the same paint I used on my cabinets.

Osama Bin Laden. The talk of the town this past week. Unfortunately it has brought on lots of political arguments. Can't we be happy that this man is gone? That he can no longer terrorize anyone? That the bastard who planned 9/11 has been "disposed of".

I admit, there are things about this that seem weird to me. Weird as in "fishy", but I"m trying to believe that the man is gone and fish food by now, because that just makes me feel better.

Something that I've thought about recently was, since he is dead, and he was of Muslim/Islamic faith, where is he? Ooooh, talk about a hot topic huh?

Is he burning in hell? Is he being judged for what he did.

Personally, I gave up judging someone's faith a long time ago. "She going to hell" or "He's going to heaven". How the hell do I know? I don't presume to be so on the same playing field as GOD, therefore I am unable to judge anyone's salvation. Yes, you can say "but the bible says".......but that is GOD's job, not yours.

That brings me to judgment. Judgmental. Know anyone like this? OF course yu do. We all do. We've all been guilty at one time or another, or another and another. lol. It's hard not to judge. I judge when I see someone who has a toddler not in a carseat. I judge when I see people buying junk foo with their EBT (welfare/foodstamps). When my kids come home and tell me several kids get free lunch at school, yet wear only high end clothes, and have iphones. Yes, I judge their parents. But I mostly judge the government on that one.

Then you have the "been judged". Wether you know it or not, people are summing you up. Everyday. When you talk to them. Things you do. How you look.

I have been judged for many things. How clean my house is/isn't, my choice of relationships, and my personality. I know I am not pollyanna, susie sunshine, or any of those other happy irritating people. I am bitter. I am irritable. And I am lovable. Unfortunately the first two usually cancel the last on out. It's all about how you judge someone.

So the next time you decide to judge someone by the first time you meet them (They could have been having a bad day, and you just met them at a bad time), or judge someone because it's easier to do that than to look beyond the surface, maybe you need to judge yourself first.

this pile may not look like much, but it's a ton of 3, 4, and 5 inch blocks. I also have a big pile of 2, 2.5, and 3 inch strips to go along with it. Needed to get my scraps into some kind of order (i just throw them all into a giant rubbermaid tote).

I sort of like impromptu quilting. Non real pattern, just make it up as I go. Or, simple, squares. Sometimes when you combine a quilt pattern, with lots of patterned fabric, it gets entirely too busy. At least, in my opinion.

It killed me to throw little tiny scraps away of certain fabrics. I held them in my hand, gritted my teeth a little, and threw it away. Whew. That was hard.

I feel as if I will never get my fabric collection under control. I haven't bought fabric (besides solids) for a while now. I wonder how long I can keep that up? Hmm.

I bought this stamp at least a year ago, and new I had to have it. Decided to make a few notecards for myself. I went the super easy route. Kraft stampin up cardstock, black ink, dollar stamp, and older making memories fabric tape.

I love it. Super simple. I'm lliking that lately. Simplicity.

I've been working on a quilt for my son for about a year or so. I started this one, decided I didn't like the colors. So I started another, Which I like better. I'm still going to finish this one, but have no plans on where or to whom it will go.

I'm going to add the binding to the quilt I'm making for _______, and have it finished, hopefully tonight!

Wow! With Thanksgiving next week, Christmas is right around the corner. I've been so busy these past couple of weeks, I haven't had much time to work on my Christmas gifts. Hopefully this week, I will be changing that. Lots of quilts to bind!

I've been quite busy lately trying to get the house in order, so when I bring down the christmas decor, it will be much easier!! Easy is a word I love!

Tomorrow is the big day. Halloween! Unfortunately this year we're not celebrating like we usually do. The kids' are getting to the point where they don't care much about it...just the candy. I usually dress up every year, and we have a big ole shin dig...but just wasn't feelin' it this year. Between our vacation, and the two craft fairs, and some issues i'm having with a certain middle school, there just hasn't been alot of time to think/plan for it. Kinda sad that my kids are that age where they feel too old :(

I made this cute lil halloween kitchen towel. IT's actually upside down in the photo...the rik rak goes on the bottom. heh!

So happy halloween, and say goodbye to October! Enjoy this beautiful fall day.

Ahhh quilting. I love it. I really do! But it can be very time consuming. Very. Very. See, I get excited. I chose the fabric, I chose the pattern, the size. I quilt it, then I sort of stop, and go onto the next project. That is why there are 13 unfinished quilts in this photo. These are only the ones that have the batting and backings. I have another stack (not as big) of just quilt tops. Maybe once I get these done, I can list some of them on my etsy shop. www.queensonia2001.etsy.com

Craft Fair Cannonsburgh

Yesterday was the cannonsburgh Village Fall Festival. Big Craft show. Had fun, and met a lot of nice peeps!

Funny thing that happened yesterday: One of our tables blew over. Not once, but twice! So we had to go find a big rock (more like a baby boulder) to hold it down! The wind was crazy!! But the weather was fantastic! Couldn't have been better (well, maybe the wind!).

This will probably be my last craft show, or maybe not. So much work, for very little profit :( But I still love making stuff. I will mainly be working out of my etsy shop.

The photo is one of my favorite purses, that didn't sell.

My friend janeen and I did our very first craft fair yesterday! It was exciting, nerve wrecking, and exhausting! Unfortunately it was not a "lucrative" day, but that's ok. Trying to stay positive. Hopefully the next one or two, or three will be better! Great learning experience. I'm absolutely wiped out from all the prep work! At least I have inventory for the next one. lol

We all want to save money. Right? I thought i would list some ways I like to save a few cents. Feel free to add yours.

generic food. Not all generic. I love publix brand. The only generic I don't buy is ketchup and tennisshoes (sneakers).

I make my own laundry detergeant. super super super cheap! Seriously. I cannot tell you how much we, as a family of 5 plus animals I save on detergent!

I pack the kids' lunch everyday. I am amazed at how much a school lunch costs, plus the food is pretty crappy. I'd rather it be a pbj, or a turkey sandwhich on wheat than chicken nuggets or pizza.

I pack the husbands lunch/dinner everyday he goes to work. Eating out is expensive.

I drive a small car, that gets anywhere from 30-37 mpg. Our other car is an suv, and it gets around 14-15.

I could do much more, but the family is not cooperative. I try to use reusable containers for the kids' lunches, and they were not having it. Only ziploc bags will do.

So, anyone care to share?

I'm currently scrubbing my kitchen floor by hand. Yeah, it's work. The laminate floor is white, with little tiny grooves in it. So yeah, no mop can get in those grooves. While I was down there, I also started cleaning the cabinets.

Once it is all clean, and I am satisfied, I will be painting cabinets and walls. I already have the paint swatches on the cabinets. Looking at them everytime I walk thru the kitchen. Funny how they look different at night than during the day.

I made this mosaic (using other peoples photos on flickr) because I found little bits in each photo that I'm considering.

Misconception Number 1: Moms miss their kids when they go back to school

Seriously. I've had enough of you by now. Every morning with the "what are we going to do today, Mom?" is finally over. I've had looked at your face twenty-four seven for the last 77 days. It's time to go learn something. No more asking me about the pool, when is the next snack or if you can stay up late and watch a movie. It's over..You're going back to Hogwarts and I get to have a life again. There is a Christmas morning for parents and it's called "back to school".

Misconception Number 2: Moms like to go school shopping.

Are you freaking kidding me? Why do I pay taxes?.so I can rack up a 200 dollar bill at Staples for crap that we have laying around my house in junk drawers. Why does it have to be new pencils? What's wrong with the chewed up, broken strawberry shortcake pencils sitting in the bottom of the toy box for the last 6 months? And how many subject books can you possibly need? What happened to reading, writing and arithmetic. If they added a couple of things for parents to that list I wouldn't mind so much..why not pencils, erasers and vodka ...or some Nyquil.

Misconception Number 3: Moms like back to school night.

Why must we do this every year? I got it already. You're the teacher.I'm the parent. My kid is either going to be smart or dumb. If he gets a certain number or colored dot on his discipline chart, he can't get a prize from the prize box. Pretty simple stuff. Listen, I'm pretty old school. If he doesn't listen to you.you can throw something at him. I don't care. But I got a lot of work to do at home and I'm paying a babysitter right now. Plus, I'm pretty sure you are going to assign some project on wigwams made by some Indian tribe I've never heard of, so I need to get home and start my research. So, I got it. We're all here for the betterment of the kids. Blah Blah Blah. Can I leave now?

Misconception Number 4: Moms like school paperwork.

How many trees are you planning on killing to tell me the same stuff I had to pay a babysitter to listen to the other night? You know our name, where we live and our emergency phone numbers. He doesn't have a nickname..call him "stinkbutt" for all I care. We don't have any "special circumstances" that you need to know about. He lives in a home with two parents who may or may not like each other at any given time and they will fight. If that qualifies as a reason he can't get his homework done on time then he won't be able to function as an adult and have a real job so you may want to "educate" him on that life lesson.

Misconception Number 5: Moms like covering books in that annoying sticky paper.

What exactly will you be doing with these books that I have to cover them in a plastic laminate? Do you often teach in the rain? Or while the children are drinking soda and eating soup? Do you know how long that takes? Has any parent in the history of education been able to do it without any air bubbles in it? From now on I'm covering it the old way.brown paper bags. That way I can cover the books and pack their lunches at that same time. Who says moms can't multitask?

PS. Please tell my son if he can't find his lunch to look in his science book.

Misconception Number 6: Moms like helping you with your homework.

What? I am scared out of my mind. I'm pretty sure that I forgot everything I learned in fifth grade by the time I was in sixth grade. I have no idea what you are talking about most days. I don't really know my 12 times tables, I read the cliff notes to all your summer reading and I don't know how to conjugate anything but I do know that song "conjuction junction what's your function" if that helps at all. And please don't even say the words "new math" to me. What the heck was wrong the old one?

Misconception Number 7: Moms can't wait to pack your lunch every day until we die.

I hate doing laundry. Making dinner every night is the bane of my existence, so making your lunch every day for an entire year, in terms of "mom fun", lies somewhere between brushing plaque off the dogs teeth and scheduling my annual pap smear. Listen, as a child I hated what my mom packed me for lunch. But, like every kid before me, and every generation to come you will find a kid to trade with.I'm sure someone likes sardines.

Misconception Number 8: Moms love after school activities.

I don't know who made up this idea of organized clubs and sports but they should be the ones in charge of carting your A$$ around. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against all after school programs. I just wish they would offer it during hours that would work best for me so that dinner wasn't at 8:30 at night followed by 4 hours of homework. Why not do it on the weekends and call it "after-hours activities" so mommy and daddy could actually go out one night and pretend that we have a life of our own. Don't worry about us though I'm sure that me and "what's his name" will be married a very long time.

Misconception Number 9: Moms don't mind taking you to school if you miss the bus

Your bus comes at 7:10 am..which means that you should be standing by the door at 7:05 am. Not eating breakfast , chasing the dog around the house or in the bathroom, asking me to check your homework while I'm taking a shower. Get it together! I don't like running down the street in my jammies at 7:12 screaming "Please wait" or "If you stop I'll show you my boobies."

Misconception Number 10: Moms cry on your first day of school

We do cry but they are tears of joy. I have done my job. I have successfully kept a human child alive for at least 5 years without doing any major damage. Motherhood is the hardest job in the world!! Sure, doctors save lives and CEO's run million dollar businesses but.you teach a kid not to poop their pants and then you can say you've made the world a better place

The last few days have been much cooler than it has been. LIke a high of only 88! That's a cold front compared to the extremely hot summer we've been having.

We are going to the beach the first week of October. I cannot wait! I love this trip, and we usually go every year.

Now here is my conundrum: I am so ready for fall. Like i'm ready to break out the fall/halloween decorations, yet I still have to stay in the summer mood for the beach! Do I psyche myself up for fall? Or stay in the summer mindset? hmmmmm.

The 8 bottles in the photo, are not full of store bought detergent. It is homemade laundry detergent. I cannot tell people how much I love this stuff! It's so much better than store bought! Seriously. I'm not selling it or anything. YOu can find the recipe online. I used the Dugger's (yes, family with 19 kids) recipe. It's very messy, I will warn you.

So, go make some. tell me what you think. I'll be right here waiting.....taptaptap.....

So, I had to turn word verification back on. Dang spammers. Wanted to post this layout. I have to say, so far it's my favorite :)

This is day 2 of the kids being in school. (did you hear the angels sing). I can't believe how quickly the day goes! I have all these plans. Cooking, cleaning everything, getting caught up on laundry. yeah right!!! I don't even get half of that done. Maybe 1/3rd.

I have the boy childs quilt top done. I can't wait to quilt it! But I need to get this house in order first! I still have that stack of quilts that need binding. I'm making myself (queen size) a quilt for my bed. It's all vintage sheets. My husband said it was a little bit too feminine. I said tough. Heh.

I joined my first sewing bee a couple of months ago. This photo is of my very first block. For July, I'm a few days late (as usual). My month isn't until April. Hopefully nobody will flake out.

I've been organizing and cleaning out closets like you cannot imagine. I went thru about 6 big garbage bags of stuff to throw away, about 6 big garbage bags and a few boxes for the goodwill. I can't believe how much crap I can shove in a closet! Please, don't call the "hoarders" show on me!

So, I've been working on a twin size quilt for my son, for oh....a good 6 months. Or longer! I finally am seeing the end of the tunnel! I have finally finished the quilt top. I have the backing fabric (which I picked up at a thrift store 2 years ago!). I am very happy with how much I paid for it...which was like 75 cents. So, i'm hoping by the fall, I will have it finished. Can't wait to see it all quilted and binded ;)

Speaking of quilting......I have about 6 mini/throw quilts on my sewing table right now. All but 2 are quilted. The others need binding. Which is my most unfavorite task of the process.

I am not sure if I ever posted this, but I have a new etsy store that I opened. It's for my dog treat business. Anyways, gonna run and shower. Going to take the middle child shopping and see about some school clothes. It was so easy when they were little, but now that they're teens, it's ridiculous. I'm thinking about giving them $$ and letting them buy their own.

So, i've given up paper scrapbooking, but haven't given up cardmaking. I love handmade cards. I love making them. I love receiving them. I went to a friends' house Monday, and three of us sat around, talking and making cards. Good times. I realized that I have been very socially deprived since I quit my job. And i'm also married to the most quiet man on earth, i'm screwed. The 2 younger kids are too much into x-box to talk to me much, and the oldest works till late. When she comes in, I try to talk to her, but she usually doesn't have more than 10 minutes for me (sigh). Do you feel sorry for me yet? lol.

I have lots of sewing/quilting projects going on. Heck, when do I not? I really want to have these all finished by Christmas. Wish me luck!

No....not coffee! I refuse. Refuse I tell ya! But I have given up the coffee mate. yes, no more peppermint mocha creamer. I"m a bit sad about it,. I love that stuff. No , I mean, I LLLLOOOOVVVEE my peppermint mocha creamer. But now, it's only skim milk. le sigh.

See, sometimes I have to slip things in , because my husband is such a freak about food. When we first got married, he thought anything but whole milk was terrible. Eww. Whole Milk. It's like drinking cream! So , slowly I went to 2 %, then 1%, then skim. Of course he never noticed. But why would he care? He's lactose intolerant!!

So I'm going to slip in the decaf coffee soon. Keep the regular container, and just pour in the decaf. Heh. Sneaky right?

I tried to slip in the whole wheat pasta, but he noticed. Said it was gross. I'm sure if he didn't notice the color, he would have not said anything! That's the way he rolls.

I've let myself "go"

I've let myself go. There. I . Said. It. Of course, this is nothing new. I've been letting myself go for about 3 years now. Eating crap. Fast Food. Cookies. Cookies. More cookies. Of course, depression doesn't help. Heh. In the past month , the dr. and I have to decided to try the A.D.H.D. diet for my son. WOW. Talk about work! No processed food. No food coloring. No red/green dye. What isn't processed???!!! So, inching him into that diet, has inched the rest of us. I've become more aware with what i've been putting in my body lately. Once you start reading ingredients of food....you really don't want to eat them. If you can't pronounce half the ingredients, don't eat it! Now don't get me wrong. I haven't gone all healthy. I still partake :) But....it's in less amounts. I've had a "problem" with food the past few years. It has been my drug. Some people smoke. Some people drink. Some people do drugs. I eat. But not anymore. When I put food on my plate for dinner, I immediately take half of it off. I've noticed a little "thinning" in my waist. Not much, because I really haven't gone all the way with this "way of life" (see, I prefer to call it way of life, rather than diet). Of course, all of this is very difficult when you live with the most unhealthy person! My husband. Good lord. If he doesn't have meat and bread with every dinner, you'd think he was going to starve. Whole wheat bread? Whole Wheat Flour? omg, I am poisoning him. So I am slowly trying to steer him away from the crap. Hell, I even bought raw sugar for my coffee! (backpat). Oh yeah....I live in the south. We like to eat crap here. Fried chicken, sweeeeet iced tea, and anything with lots of fat in it. So you can imagine our family get togethers!

Anyways, just wanted to share. Even if no one is reading this....

My first quilt using all flannel. Even the binding is flannel. So soft. I did a terrible job on the binding. So I will be keeping it for myself (oh darn! lol)

I call this one "english rose". The back is a matching gingham in green. You can see it if you go to my flickr photos.

I definately think i will be making more flannel quilts.

I loved you. We all loved you. Even daddy. You were the only cat he ever really liked.

You knew how to sit, and give your paw for a treat. You loved to drink out of a dripping faucet. You would sit on the kitchen counters, even when we told you not to. We found you as a little kitten. Dirty, stinky, and a leaky eye. You turned into the most beautiful boy. Always had such a sleek black coat. The prettiest green eyes.

We had some good times together. You loved sleeping with me. If you weren't in my bed at night, I knew you were in bed with Sierra. You did not like coco. She annoyed you. When you heard her bell, you growled. One night I put a bell collar on you, and you held me hostage in my own bed for 3 hours! lol. I will forever miss you. You gained a permanent spot in my heart.

We are on day 5 of Ozzy in the hospital. Finally...last night , we found out what's wrong with him! His small intested was infected, which went into his liver. Therefore his liver count was astronomical. Their normal liver enzyme count is 80. His got up to 12,000. Yeah. Twelve.Thousand. His temp got to over 107. We may be taking him home this afternoon. Keep your fingers crossed! I miss him so much.

So, doing lots of research on possible liver problems in cats, I've learned ALOT. I knew certain foods were toxic to animals...but didn't understand why. Now I do. They don't have the liver enzyme that breaks it down. Also found out how DANGEROUS having an overweight cat can be. Not only to their regular health, but ecspecially to their liver. They can get fatty liver just like humans. Actually it's much worse with cats.

So, don't let your cats get fat. P.S.A. over.

I've been drowning in thoughts of Ozzie and my broken window this weekend. I will be calling around to find someone to fix the window.

My middle daughter will be turning 14 this month. I decided to make her invite using my digital scrapbooking software. I think it turned out pretty cute, if I do say so myself.

So I guess I will be busting my butt to start listing stuff on etsy to try to recoop the BIG money I'm spending on vet bills (and continuing to spend). So please, feel free to shop my etsy shop (lol).

I had to take ozzie (seen in photo) to the emergency vet last night. His temp was 107.4 (which is like near seizure level). His liver enzymes were so high, their machine couldn't even register them :( He had to stay overnight for iv fluids and antibiotics. To say I was bawling my eyes out is to put it lightly. I love my animals. They are such a part of my life, that losing one would devestate me. He's only 3. The vet's office called this a.m. and said his temp is down to just above normal. They're going to retest his liver levels tonight, giving him 24 hours on the iv's. Please send good thoughts. It just doesn't seem right for him not to be here right now. Curled up on the end of my bed. :*(

Wanna hear what else happened last night? As I'm walking out to my car to get my purse, i notice my window is busted out. Lucky for me, I forgot my wallet at home, so they got no money, credit cards checks etc. unlucky for me: that was my favorite purse that I made. I got compliments on it every single time I carried it :( I was more upset about losing my lipgloss and sunglasses and purse than the broken window which will probably cost a fortune. Not to mention the vet bills. So between the theft, the insane vet bill, and my sick cat....I'm a raw nerve just waiting to explode!

Most everyone knows I love the beach (but seriously. who doesn't). Living in Tn, I feel so landlocked. We're about 8 hours from the ocean, and that's just not cool with me. The last few years we've been taking our vacation down at the gulf. We have a condo reserved this fall. Just hoping the oil doesn't ruin it. I look forward to this trip all year. I think I will seriously cry if we can't go. No, really. I.will.cry.

And that brings me to my main subject: photos. photography. pictures. Whatever. Unfortunately my children (ages 12.5, 14, and 16) pretty much refuse to let me take their pics. That's why you see so many nature/pet shots in my photostream. Makes me sad, because when the day comes that I can't remember anything, maybe the photos will help me (think: "the notebook"). So, combining two of my loves (the beach, and photography) is a no brainer. I take so many photos at the beach. It's so peaceful and beautiful.

Ok, where am I going with this. Not sure. Just rambling. I guess I"m thinking there's a chance we may not get to see the beach this year. Damn oil spill.

so that quilt I was talking about in my last post? Well, I put the backing on it last night...got it almost finished. HATE.IT.!!! I will be un-stitching the heck out of that thing tonight. Yuck yuck yuck! I better hurry up and finish it, because I am quicklhy losing interest. It may end up in my PILE of unfinished projects. That would be a shame.

I have Christmas on the brain.Actually Christmas sewing. I'm brainstorming on some new etsy items. Going to work on the "prototype" tonight.

The other day I made a big ole batch of salsa and canned it. Man, that was pretty cool. I will definately be doing more of that. I feel like such a suzie homemaker (lol). I even made these cute lil labels to fit inside the rings. I will be purchasing more jars soon ;P

I have been doing some quilting this past week. I am close to finishing a quilt I started on a couple of weeks ago. I used all scraps, and I"m really diggin' it. For some reason, I think I like scrap quilts the best. I guess because of the million different fabrics, it's more interesting to look at.

It has been a scorcher here lately. The dogs don't even want to go outside to use the potty. Luigi, who loves to run for about 5 minutes before he comes home hasn't even been doing that!

Gotta go decide what's for dinner. I hate doing that! Someone always ends up complaining. But guess what? Don't eat what i'm cooking, you don't eat. The days of making you something different have been over for about 10 years.

I love my magnolia tree. The blossoms are sooo fragrant. I love this time of summer. It isn't at the point where everything in the yard is burned to death. Speaking of burning, Since this is my first garden...I was not ready for the increase in my water bill. yikes!

I am having some serious issues with my eyes. I've always had dry eyes...but this past month has been hell. My eyes are not just dry, but now they are swollen, and it feels like bumps around my eyelids. Not sure if I should go to the dr for it, or not. I mean, I could go and be told "yeah, you got dry eye. use eye drops". Oy! Oh, and yes I am never without my eye drops. I have eye drop bottles all over the house.

Anyways.....I've started sewing again. Well, it's not like I quit, more like I took a hiatus. I made a gift for a friend of mine. I am giving it to her tomorrow, so I will post photos tomorrow. I really like it, and will be making one for myself!

Ok, off to put eye drops in. Again.

So i've been doing alot of digital scrapbooking lately. This one I entered into a contest over on 300dpi.com. It's die cuts with a view digital website. They gave away the link to this free kit,and the theme is for father's day. I like it. It's nothing jaw dropping, but that's ok.

So I started sewing again this past week. My friend bought a bunch of patriotic "ish" fabrics at a yard sale for me. I had told her I wanted to make a patriotic quilt. So, i've started on the quilt tops (they are finished), and one quilt (i'm making two. one for her, one for me) has been sandwhiched and pinned. I shall start quilting it tonight, if time and energy permits.

It's so incredibly humid outside, I don't even want to leave the house! But I have to. Gotta hit the grocery store, and pick up my new glasses. Need to make an appointment for Pixie to have her hair cut. She looks like a little sheep dog right now. LOL.

So much happening this past week. Three optometry appointments (it's great having 5 people who all wear glasses. Thank GOD we have vision insurance). We took a trip to the lake this weekend. Man, the heat/humidity was crazy. We had a good time. The lake water temp was perfect. But I think I lost about 5 gallons of sweat. yuck! I hate to sweat.

I'm hoping to find some relatively free (or very cheap) activities for the children. If anyone has ideas, please share.

Next week is fathers day, and I haven't given it a second thought. I actually kind of forgot about it. Oops. Guess I better be figuring something out this week huh?

Yum. Looks kinda gross? I don't know. The blackberries made

it more of a reddish color. Which is good, cause I doubt my kids

would eat it if it were green! The boy child liked it, the oldest liked

it, and of course, picky middle one didn't. I liked it, so I decided to

make another round. I stored it in the frig and am gonna use it to help

me lose some weight.

So there ya have it. The start of something new.

This past week, we've been having thunderstorms every evening! It's made it impossible to get in the garden! So needless to say the grass is almost as tall as the plants. Grrr.

I've delved into digi scrapping. I'm surprised by how much time it takes! I kinda thought it would be quicker, but maybe because I'm new to it. Either way, I can see that I'm eating my words, when I said I would NEVER digital scrap. LOL. But here's one of my first pages. Kinda plain. I'm having a little problem getting free kits to upload. WOw. May is always busy. But not this busy. I'm just so thankful that this May I was able to be at home and not only enjoy these busy times, but not fret so much about them!

Let's see...what's going on:

1: I tried to make a skirt out of a new pattern. Crap. Need I say more. Don't like it. Don't care for the type of fabric I chose, don't know why I chose that stupid pattern. The more I look at it, the more I hate it.

2. Scrapbook Roomis 80% cleaned out. Not 80% of my stuff, but 80% clean. Hopefully within this next year, we'll be ripping the carpet out of the upstair (and the steps!!!!) and put down laminate (fake wood) floor. I'm sort of leaning more towards bamboo though. I really like the bamboo floors. Not only because they are eco friendly, but they look really cool too ;)

3. The garden is coming along quite nicely. WE have lots of little green tomatoes! yay!! I'm excited to see everything else start budding!

4. The oldest finally got her diploma (they were late in grading their end of course exams, so they got a "mock" diploma at graduation). man was I ticked offf! <~~about the mock diploma. Anyways, she graduated with honors. yay.

5. the other 2 kiddos finished their year out today. We picked up their report cards. Daughter #2 made honor roll all year. She got a medal. I'm very very proud of her. The Boy child passed. I am relieved. thankfully that was their last year at that school. It was a k-8 school, and next year it will be a k-5. So they will be going to a biiiiiggg brand new school. I'm nervous. It's also much further away. Their last school was only 3 miles.

6. Took the boy child to get his hair cut after they got report cards. For anyone that has seen him this past month, understands that was no small task! The boy loves his long hair. I don't know why. He's quite the boys' boy. Kwim?

7. Hubs and I celebrated 18 years of marriage on Wednesday. To say that marriage has been difficult, is like saying yeah a million bucks is ok. It's been hard. Rewarding. Heartbreaking. Happy. Disappointing. Sad. Angry. Every emotion you could think of.

I think that's about it.

This is my 100th post (on this blog). I've had several blogs before, and always switch for some reason or other. Lost alot of "readers" along the way. But I think facebook has sort of killed off a lot of blogging.

I had a great day yesterday (I turned 29 for the 8th time, lol). Lots of lovely phone calls, texts, and facebook wishes.

Took the 2 pups to the dog park today. They always have a grand time there. Unfortunately Luigi is not cured from his big dog aggression just yet. Not all big dogs, just certain ones. Have no clue how he choses which ones he doesn't like. He's had a 12 week obedience class, and unfortunately that only helped a little.

I was going to pull weeds/grass from the garden today, but it started raining a bit. Right now, the grass is almost as tall as what i'm growing in the garden. lol. That flood we had really did a number on the plants here! They're like mutant plants. Unfortunately the same happened to the mosquitoes (scratch scratch).

I've sort of put my sewing on the back burner for right now. I'm trying to clean out my very neglected scrapbook room. It's weird, I like to scrapbook in the quiet, no one around, but when I sew, I need noise. Anyways....I'm downsizing my supplies. I'm going to aim for getting rid of 50% of my stuff, but i'm really hoping to get it more towards 75. I haven't scrapped in a good year. Why? Because I have too much stuff! Sounds like a good problem to have. It's really not. I get so overwhelmed, and the mess.Omgosh the mess! So hopefully in the next couple of weeks I will start scrapping/cardmaking again. I really miss it.

Well, off to help daughter make dinner. Taco night. Toodles.

If I could chose a cake for myself...I think I would chose this one, made by quaintcake (snagged from flickr). Is it not gorgeous? Omgosh. I've tried making fancy cakes before, and omg it's hard work!!! I can totally see why these cakes go for such biggg $$$. Totally worth it. Anything handmade takes longer, and is worth the extra money! That goes for sewing, quilting, papercrafts, woodmaking, etc etc.

Anyways, hubs is about to take me out for my birthday. I am 36 (gulp) years old today! Man, I can't believe i'm that old. LOL. Physically, I feel that age (and older!), but mentally i'm still that silly little 18 year old kid!
Maybe i'll grow up one day. But I still enjoy colored nailpolish, stickers, lipgloss, and getting presents. LOL.

Last week was a blurr. Mothers day, then my daughter's graduation, then my husband's birthday. Oh, and my birthday is Wednesday, and our anniversary is next week. hah!! Man, May is some kinda month!

I am feeling terrible today. Physically that is. My body is aching. I get this sometimes. Today it's my legs. Sometimes I wonder if I have some kind of arthritis. But, maybe i'm just a hypochondriac.

So today, I am taking it easy. It's pretty boring.

I snagged this photo off flickr. Image by notsofresh. We have had some devestating flooding here in Nashville. Luckily, my home and family is safe. Many others are not. There have been several deaths , and countless homes and business' are destroyed. This is just something that doesn't happen here. WE got around 14 inches of rain in less than 48 hours. That's literally UNHEARD of here.

Please say a prayer for the people who have been affected by this flood.

I want this. It's a Letterpress by Quickutz. No, it's not a "real professional" letterpress. Of course not. Who the heck can afford those? I 've seen alot of crap talk from people who do "real" letterpress, coming down on people buying this kit. Does that mean people need to stop buying dslr cameras that are under $1000? Gimme a break. I love the look of letterpress, and I would LOVE to make my own letterpress cards. So maybe one day I'll buy this. I know it's on sale over at http://www.twopeasinabucket.com. Oh, and my birthday is coming up (hint for anybody who is looking for a birthday pressie for me, heh heh).

So i'm patiently waiting for my veggie garden to take off. In the meantime, I've been watching my flowers, ecspecially my roses grow. WOW. There are a million buds on my rose bushes. I guess all of that rain we had really helped my garden grow!

Janeen and I stayed up late Friday night and sewed a tote bag using a tutorial in a quilting mag. I can't believe how much fabric and batting was WASTED in this pattern. I was so ticked off. Guess I should have read ahead...but most patterns are good about conserving. This bag took FOREVER to make. Terrible pattern, IMHO. If I make it again, I'll do a few things different. Like make the straps longer, make the pocket a bit shorter, and of course, not so much waste!

I hate waste. I reuse as much stuff as I can. I have quite the glass jar collection going. I try to save my empty veggie/soup cans. I have an idea in my head of what to use them for. OF course, wether I'll actually do it or not, remains to be said.

Ok, off to sew. I have 2 wallets to make, and I'll be finished with the custom order from etsy. then to start on a small lap quilt for my mil for mothers day. Hmm, 2 wks. Can I do it?

Last year, we took on the daunting task of repainting our living room and hallway. Daunting because it was "victorian red". Yeah. Covering Red. Hard Stuff. anyways....after much, much much, much (did i say much?) looking, I finally found the color. Martha Stewarts "Kraft paper". Perfect paint. I've had more compliments on this color than any other color I"ve used (and trust me...the first 5 years, I repainted every room in this house multiple times). So, I decided from that point (man this story is getting long!) that Martha Stewart's valspar from Lowe's was the only paint I will ever use. Her colors are extrodinary, and I LOVE the names of the paint. So last week I discovered Lowe's no longer carries MS paint! WTH???? But alas, I saw a commercial a few days later, and now Home Depot carries it. Big sigh of relief. IF you are looking for paint, check out Martha Stewart. Her colors are AMAZING.
